Dear Readers, dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord,
An independent bank that has created a distinctive profile for itself in Germany as “Catholic” is turning its steps to Rome. This is something that I can only welcome, since in Germany we can look back on many years of positive experience with the Pax-Bank. Its branches are to be found in seven diocesan cities, including one in Mainz. I know the great personal commitment shown by the employees and what efforts they make to achieve the best results. A bank that works together with orders, bishoprics, Catholic institutions, relief organisations and hospitals has to have special know-how in these areas. It has to know the circumstances, structures, decision-making channels. It has to know the objectives and the roots. Only then will it find suitable ways and means in financial matters.

It is not surprising that the Pax-Bank, which has operated successfully in and for the Catholic Church since its foundation in 1917, is opening a representative office specifically in Rome. It will now also be offering its services where there is a concentration of many Catholic institutions and orders. I wish every success for this idea. The knowledge and ability of the Pax-Bank will without doubt be of benefit in the Eternal City. I wish people in Rome good experience with the bank.

Money is a matter of trust, as they say in Germany. I would like to interpret this a little differently. The trust in the Lord that bonds us can be the basis for a fine, trustworthy relationship. May God’s blessing accompany the work of the Pax-Bank in Rome.
